Nanoleaf has carved out its own niche in the market and made its famous light panels arguably the standard for LED wall lights. But some may be turned off by the high cost or simply not like how Nanoleaf panels look. Sound like you? Well, maybe it’s time to check out some of the best Nanoleaf alternatives available right now.

Whether you’re looking for cheaper options or are just bored with the triangular Nanoleaf shape, there’s a LED wall panel out there for you. Here are seven Nanoleaf alternatives that could bring some RGB decoration to your gaming setup and beyond.

1. Govee Glide Hexa Panels

This Nanoleaf competitor’s most obvious difference is the hexagon shape. But there’s more to these smart light panels than triangles vs. hexagons, and the Govee Glide Hexa Panels have their own set of strengths that make them a worthy alternative.

Physically, the Govee Glide Hexa panels are a high-quality option that can display up to six colors per panel, thanks to having multiple LEDs in each of them. They also use transparent plastic shells that let the panels shine back onto the wall to create a nice ambient effect.

Unfortunately, connection options to other hardware and software are limited to the Govee home app, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant. Less integration than Nanoleaf, but Govee’s proprietary app has many customization options that may make up for it.

For example, the Govee software lets you choose between preset and custom lighting modes that range from static displays to animated effects and music sync. The app also enables you to control all your Govee lighting products from one place. If you plan on a unified setup, these Govee lights are a great option.

Govee’s Glide Hexa panels aren’t a cheap Nanoleaf competitor. Instead, they’re among the best Nanoleaf alternatives worth checking out for their build quality and software expansion options.

2. Yescom 10 Pack WiFi Smart LED Light Kit

Yescom’s hexagonal LED kit stands out for a couple of reasons. For one, they ditch the Dorito look for a hexagonal shape. You also have the option of purchasing different amounts of panels and even a stand that lets you create your very own custom RGB desk lamp.

The wall-mounted option is the focus here since that’s where these are a Nanoleaf competitor. Unfortunately, that’s where a significant caveat appears. The Yescom hexagonal lights use wall-mounted brackets that have to be screwed in permanently.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing since it makes for a secure mount. If you’re anything like me, though, drilling holes for LED panels may be a little extreme, and you may prefer the tape or adhesive pads of other wall lights.

As far as device integration goes, the Yescom lights work with the standard options. You can use the Yescom mobile app, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home for controlling and customizing your panels. Voice control is present via the smartphone app or a mic on the USB cable, along with features like auto shutoff, music sync, and dimming.

Yescom’s LED lights give you more physical options and packages, making them a viable Nanoleaf alternative. However, user reviews say the app is a little confusing and unreliable. The mounting brackets may also be a deal-breaker for some people who just want a simple tape-based solution. But if you’re ok with both, then these are a solid option.

3. Koozam Smart Wall LED Light Panels

The Koozam Smart Wall LED Light Panels are one of the most affordable options on our list. Not only that, but their triangular shape means they’re also an excellent choice if you want something close to the Nanoleaf lights at a better price.

You will have to live without some of the premium features, though. For example, you’re not going to get the Nanoleaf light panels’ screen mirroring or layout detection features. We think that’s acceptable given the lower price.

The Koozam smart light panels have modest software integration. The lights only connect to Koozam’s app as well as Amazon Alexa and Google Home. You also get features like voice control and a music reactive mode in the package.

Overall, the Koozam Smart Wall LED light panels are a competent and affordable Nanoleaf competitor. They won’t win any points for originality, but their main strength is how close they get to the look while saving you a lot of money in the process.

4. Rottyi 6 Pack LED Night Lights

Rottyi’s LED Night Lights are a Nanoleaf alternative with a unique selling point: they’re completely portable. Three AAA batteries power each triangle-shaped light, so you can arrange them in any way without using connector strips to distribute power.

In addition, the Rottyi LED Night Lights use a magnetic mounting solution, perfect if you want to mount these lights on metal surfaces like your PC case. The portability comes at a price, though. These aren’t smart lights, and you don’t get any app or smart home integration. So no voice control or sound-reactive modes here, unfortunately. That said, you do get a functional remote and touch controls.

The icing on the cake is that these Rottyi lights are incredibly cheap, even factoring in the cost of batteries. As long as you’re not dead-set on controlling your lights with Alexa, these could do the job for not a lot of money.

5. LIFX Beam Light Modules

This Nanoleaf competitor from LIFX is a smart light strip that offers device and hardware integration. The LIFX Beam LED strips are perfect for accenting and outlining paintings, walls, desks, and other furniture.

Another benefit of the LIFX Beam Lights’ shape is that they can easily switch between decorative RGB and productive work lighting. This is something that the larger and more attention-grabbing panels may be poorly suited for.

The second big advantage of LIFX Beam lights is the wealth of device and software integration. Beyond the standard trio of a mobile app, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home, you can also control these lights with:

  • Windows app
  • Windows Cortana
  • Amazon Alexa
  • Apple Homekit
  • Razer Chroma

One drawback that this Nanoleaf competitor has is its price. The LIFX Beam lights are quite expensive, considering the number of lights you get per package. The default buying option is six bars and one 90-degree angle connector per set, so using them to line a lot of baseboard or crown molding would rack up a pretty huge bill.

The quality and features arguably justify the cost, though, as these are close if not equal to Nanoleaf in terms of software and device compatibility. Worth a look.

6. Govee Glide RBGIC Light Bars

$67.49 ($11.25 / Count)

The Govee Glide light bars buck the trend of geometric wall-hangers. These bar-shaped lights allow for any kind of pattern that involves 90-degree angles. Thanks to their tubular design, these elongated lights can be used for straight-lined geometric patterns or used to accent photos and furniture.

You can buy the Govee Glide lights as either six bars with one corner piece or eight bars with four corners. Pricing is reasonable, too, and even the larger eight-piece package is decently priced compared to its flat counterparts.

The Govee Glide offers the kind of lighting effects that make it a worthwhile consideration for your custom RGB needs. You can choose from one of the “64+” different lighting scenes, as well as the standard static display. These lights can show up to 55 colors at once from a total of 16 million, so you can get some vivid color schemes going.

These bars are also music reactive, with 11 different music reactive modes available in the Govee app. The Govee Glide Light Bars are, of course, compatible with the robust Govee Home app suite as well as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Overall, this is a great choice considering its quality and unique shape.

7. Govee Neon Rope Lights

04/09/2024 10:51 pm GMT

LED strips can work for surfaces and RGB lighting projects that standard LED panels can’t do. But then, there’s the fact that you’re not always dealing with 90-degree angles. If you want LED strips but need a more flexible approach, it’s worth looking into Govee’s Neon Rope Lights.

These flexible RGBIC lights can bend around all objects and into curved patterns that other light panels can’t. This flexibility separates the Govee Neon Rope Lights from the competition. Combine this with the Govee software, and you have a winner.

As with most Govee products, the Neon Rope Lights feature several different animated and static lighting effects across a spectrum of 16 million colors. There are 64 preset scene modes, many animated effects, 11 music modes, and even a timer feature. Accessing these features is easy with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and the Govee Home app.

Admittedly, the Govee Neon Rope Lights are a bit of a leftfield choice for a Nanoleaf alternative. After all, they’re not the modular panels that you may have your heart set on. However, we think they’re worth considering for their uniqueness.

They’re also affordable, with 30 feet costing the same as a single set of Nanoleaf panels. If you want wall LED lighting that’s different and budget-friendly, these may be what you’ve been looking for.

Conclusion

When shopping for a Nanoleaf alternative, what works best for you will depend on many factors. Since almost any Nanoleaf competitor will have some kind of smart-home integration and software control, factors such as price and shape will likely determine your choice of wall lighting.

If budget is your number one concern, the Koozam Smart Wall LED Light Panels will do the job. If you want a varied product catalog with a decent app, then a Govee lighting product like the Govee Glide Hexa panels will fit the bill. But LED panels aren’t the only part of a killer gaming room; why not add some essential gaming desk accessories to level up your setup?
